LEAN:
Certified Lean Professional (CLP) - Fall 09

Dates: 9/21/09 - 12/7/09
This 30 hour course is conducted in ten evening sessions, three hours per evening, beginning with a brief history of lean production and continuing with value added and non-value added/waste identification, lean methodologies (lean principles, 5s, value stream mapping, pull systems) and key lean concepts: flow, workplace organization & visual management, quality, operational availability, material movement, employee environment and involvement, standardized work, mistake proofing, total productive maintenance, set-up reduction, and cellular flow. Each of the ten sessions will feature a hands-on demonstration of lean tools utilizing subject examples provided from student supplied projects from their respective workplace. With the completion of a satisfactory project using Lean tools and a passing exam grade, participants become Certified Lean Professionals.

Minitab Training Spring 2010

This training is for anyone who needs to be able to manipulate data and solve problems using Minitab v15. You will learn how to use and interpret Minitab graphs, including histograms, plots, box plots, bar charts, interval plots and time series plots. You will also assess the normality of your data using graphs and basic statistics, such as measures of center and spread, and confidence intervals. The training will be conducted in an interactive setting with plenty of hands-on demonstrations. Both transactional and manufacturing examples will be used.

Black Belt Training Fall 2009

UB's Center for Industrial Effectiveness is pleased to announce our next Black Belt training class. The Black Belt certification training will be delivered by one of TCIE's Master Black Belt instructors. The TCIE instructor will provide facilitation, training, and learning via workshops and breakout groups for attending industry professionals seeking Black Belt certification. The Black Belt certification process is a five week (200 hr) training program spanning approximately 5 months.

Bridge to Black Belt Training Fall 2009

TCIE has developed a training program to assist certified Green Belts in their goal to become a certified Black Belt. We call this program "Bridge to Black Belt". The Bridge to Black Belt program is presented in conjunction with our Black Belt Certification training. Considering that these courses run in tandem, and realizing that no two adults learn in the same manner, it was important to the success of our program to create an open environment by which each trainee could audit, as needed, the 200 hrs of Black Belt course instruction.

Lean Six Sigma Executive Overview Fall 2009

This training is designed to give the executive and/or owner of a business an overview to Lean Six Sigma. This half-day Six Sigma executive briefing begins with a continental breakfast. Presenting an overview of the Six Sigma methodology, Certified Master Black Belt, Tom Miller will fully explore the secret weapon of some of the world's most successful companies. A case study will be presented with the presentation ending with a question and answer period. Each participant will have the opportunity to discuss facilitation, management and implementation of Six Sigma projects.

The purpose of this lunch presentation is familiarization with common financial measures, their applications, and the effect they have on the bottom-line add valuation of the company. The importance of EBITDA, what exactly it means, and how it affects every stakeholder in the company will be explained. Attendees will learn the basics of the balance sheet, income statements, and cash-flow statements, as well as how proper management through these tools can positively affect the EBITDA. This lunch will provide a great introduction for those looking to learn more about how to identify the finances of a well-run company and look for areas that need improvement. The luncheon session will conclude with an intro to some advanced financial management concepts such as activity-based-costing and the use of a balanced scorecard.
