  • UB TCIE Launches New Site, Changes Name

    Tuesday, September 6,2011

The University at Buffalo (UB) Center for Industrial Effectiveness announces the launch of a new website at www.tcie.buffalo.edu and an official name change to UB TCIE.

The new site, created by Sassy Design Group of Buffalo, more clearly communicates the UB engineering expertise and business improvement services available to organizations and professionals in New York State and beyond. It is a streamlined presentation of UB TCIE’s services, which develop process excellence, expand product development and enhance overall business operations.

UB TCIE’s four primary service verticals are:

    • Engineering Solutions: UB TCIE connects businesses with the expertise and resources of the seven UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences disciplines through research and development ventures and access to state-of-the-art testing labs
    • Operational Excellence: tailored services, driven by the client’s strategic priorities, concentrate on enterprise-wide performance improvement solutions
    • Professional Development: professionals acquire technical and soft skills to better support their companies’ strategic initiatives through Lean, Six Sigma, ISO and change management certification courses and workshops
    • New York State Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) Grant: New York State companies employing fewer than 500 people are eligible for subsidized technically advanced engineering projects

Since its founding in 1987, TCIE has stood for The Center for Industrial Effectiveness. Elimination of the full name reflects a marketing approach that incorporates diverse business sectors.

“The word ‘industrial’ has become obsolete, particularly when considering the new market sectors we serve today – healthcare, government, education, finance, insurance and non- profits,” said Timothy Leyh, UB TCIE executive director. “We are known as ‘TCIE’ in the community, so found it fitting to make the change in time for our 25th anniversary next year.”

The acronym “TCIE” no longer has a meaning. The new tagline, “Your Bridge to Excellence,” represents UB TCIE’s mission of connecting industry with UB Engineering resources and operational excellence leaders.
